Physiotherapy Treatments

Physiotherapy includes a wide range of treatments including:

Manipulation and Mobilisations

These treatments vary in terms of the force required and the patients preference. These range from very gentle joint and soft tissue movements and stretching to manipulation. It is always preferable to use as gentle a treatment as possible to treat a soft tissue or joint problem.

IDD Therapy

Intervertebral Differential Dynamics (IDD) Therapy is the successful and trusted non-surgical spinal decompression treatment for back pain, neck pain and related conditions such as sciatica.

Many back pain conditions are located at a particular level in the spine. With IDD Therapy we use computer-controlled pulling forces delivered by the SDS SPINA medical device to gently distract (draw apart) targeted segments of the spine in order to take pressure off specific discs and nerves whilst at the same time, gently stretching tight muscles and stiff ligaments.

By decompressing (taking pressure off) an injured or bulging disc and stretching the soft tissues, we can improve mobility in the spine and allow the body's natural healing mechanisms to operate more efficiently. In so doing, we can relieve pain caused by muscle spasm and alleviate nerve compression and irritation cased by bulging discs.

As clinicians, we can treat most back and neck pain with manual therapies but for some conditions - particularly those which are disc-related - patients need something more to help their condition improve.

Sports Rehabilitation

Early and correct treatment of sports injuries is vital for the most effective recovery. Sports injuries are treated to ensure optimal recovery and return to sport as soon as possible. The sports person will be provided with a sport specific rehabilitation program and given advice to prevent re-injury, which may include referral for a podiatric assessment.

Sports & Therapeutic Massage Therapy

Here at The Solihull Physiotherapy Clinic Ltd we offer both Sports and Therapeutic Massage Therapy for clients of all ages, abilities and levels of fitness. You don't have to be an athlete to feel the benefit of massage therapy - anyone who participates in recreational sports and exercise or experiences everyday levels of stress or strain will benefit from our treatments. We can adjust our treatments to cater to your individual requirements.

Ergonomic and postural advice

Ergonomic advice is invaluable at work and home to help prevent pain caused by repetitive movements, poor seating, desk position and computer alignment. You will also be advised on how to maintain good posture and to avoid aches and pains in the future.

Pilates

Clinical Pilates used by Physiotherapists is a modification of the traditional Pilates exercises developed by Joseph Pilates over 70 years ago. The emphasis is control of the deep stabilising muscles of the trunk which support the spine. By improving these muscles improved core stability can reduce postural pain and enhance efficiency of movement.

Electrotherapy

A variety of modalities including ultrasound, interferential and transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) machines are available. As an adjunct to other treatment techniques these modalities can help to relieve pain and accelerate the healing process.
